More Blonde Moments
Its that time of year again, and as I was preparing to do my taxes I found a W-4 missing. I knew this might happen as we have moved. So, simple solution, call and request a duplicate. Since I failed at finding the number to the Human Resources Dept. at my last place of employ. (College of the Redwoods) I decided to call my dept and have them transfer me. Easy enough if you're not a human phone book like me and sometimes the numbers get a little mixed up. So I call my work number. And the "Disabled Student Services how-can-I-help-you" line was replaced by "hello?" How do I answer? I pause...for a REALLY long time. Then say "uh...I think I have the wrong number." But this guy has to add to my shame and say, "whom are you trying to reach?" My reply, "College of the Redwoods." So he agrees that I have the wrong number and we hang up. So I look up the number I dialed in our nifty reverse phone book to find Allwine, R.P. under the number. Yeah, don't know him. Somewhere in my head a dim light begins to burn...442-6770...and my mental rolodex flips to "Previous Places of Employment" Ta Dah! Pete's Pizza 442-6770. Yes this WAS my work number like 4 or 5 YEARS AGO!!
Its too bad old information can't be deleted from one's mental hard drive as easily as ridding one's computer of useless files. Click...drag...trash. Done.
