Animal Crackers
I've never figured out why these little treats are called crackers when they taste more like a cookie, but never-the-less they have found their way into my daughter's diet and are often my saving grace. Today I set them out in an "Easter egg hunt" style so that it is taking her quite some time to eat them, thus giving Mom some time to blog. Its almost time to re-set the traps. Oh, wait. I see two more she has yet to find. So I've got three mintues, maybe, to finish this entry.
This week has been especially hard on the homefront. Adelaide is full of well, lets just say its not "sugar and spice and everything nice." She been wound tight since Saturday. I know it helps to get her outside, but I can't keep her on the grass and out of my tomato plants. Perhaps she will have a green thumb in the future, but for now she only ends up with muddy hands and dirty clothes. (more cookies set out, three more minutes). I've got to find something that she enjoys. I think its time to buy a kiddie pool. And since its not exactly hot here, I'll be filling it with buckets of hot water from the kitchen sink-just like my Dad did for us when we were little and insisted that 65-degrees was hot and begged him to set up our our blue bottomed, vinyl sided, deep-enough-to-pretend-you-could-swim-but-not-quite-deep-enough-to-drown-in, pool. As a kid Summer and Christmas were my favorites. I think it will be the same now that I have a child of my own.
But for now its back to being on guard. Right now Adelaide is attempting to pull down our torchre lamp. The cookies have lost their power. Off to finish the lunch I started, oh, about an hour and a half ago...
Is it nap time yet?
